Pre-Kindergarten (4 to 5yrs)
The Pre-kindergarten year is very crucial to a child's school journey. We know that there are many skills a child must have upon entering Kindergarten. Children at this age, are increasing attention span, understanding rules, following directions, playing cooperatively, and increasing their independence. In Pre-k children are learning letter to sound connections, rhyming words, writing to convey meaning. Children are starting to write their name, and other simple words. The children are offered many opportunities to write, such as journal writing and designing their own class books. Various math concepts are introduced, such as estimating, adding, subtracting, graphing and patterning. We understand that children learn best by initiating their own activities and exploring all the opportunities the classroom has to offer. The Pre-K curriculum offers interesting and engaging themes, such as space, construction, and gardening to name a few. The Pre-K class is designed with many open-ended activities and children can make their own choices and work at their own pace. Most of all, children are having fun, learning, and maintaining friendships in a warm, nurturing environment.
